Renato Massa has taught Animal Biology and Conservation of Nature at the Bicocca University of Milan, dealing in particular with conservation in temperate zones and in tropical African forests and landscape planning in Italy. Author of numerous essays, for Jaca Book he directed two series for teens: The Deep Green Planet (5 vols, 1994-1995) and The Deep Blue Planet (5 vols, 1997-1998). He published also The Century of Diversity (2005) and The Parrot with the orange belly (2009).
