Hassan Hanafi
Since 1967 Hassan Hanafi is a professor of the philosophy department at Cairo University as well as a visiting professor at universities in France, United States of America, Belgium, Kuwait and Germany. He is a leading authority on modern Islam, interpreting Islamic philosophy to the Western world and Western philosophy to the Arabic world. As a young man motivated by a revolutionary political activism, Hanafi associated with the Muslim Brotherhood. Later Hanafi studied at the Sorbonne in Paris.
