Review

Written by jacabook

This series, rich of illustrations, teach the children how the same kind of things (the tree, the animal, the house) involves a whole variety of images. The man, in different countries, cultures and periods, is painted and portrayed in various ways. Also, through the paintings of modern artists like Picasso, Klee and Matisse and classical ones like Raphael and Caravaggio, the reader learns to watch different shapes and colours to print faces or figures. Each volume is dedicated to a single kind of themes and the two final pages contain the explanation of every image: from which civilization or period it comes from and which are their authors. There are dates, names, places and museums. This work is also suitable for museums and exhibition bookshops, a basic source of introduction to the arts and cultures. Easy and funny for children, but documented for adults that want to understand and explain to children where an image or an object comes from, who painted a face, Picasso or Braque, who build peculiar things, where some animals live.
